Nanaimo RCMP say a 28-year-old man was struck by a car and killed while trying to cross Highway 19 early this morning.
It happened around 3:30 near the Woodgrove Mall (Junction of 19 and 19a).
RCMP say the driver of the car and his passenger stopped and gave emergency first aid, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say they don’t think speed or alcohol were factors. And Constable Gary O’Brien says the victim was wearing dark, non-reflective clothing.
O’Brien says the victim was from Nanaimo, but police haven’t been able to contact his family yet.
