Quinsam Coal faces job cuts

After 29 years of operation, a Campbell River coal mine is facing some difficult decisions.

Reports say on Friday, 66 jobs from Quinsam Coal were cut. And with a prolonged and steep decline in coal prices along with changes to the market demand, Quinsam will be shutting down.

Sources say the mine will be placed into care and maintenance, but existing supply contracts will still be honoured.
