You might want to start taking shorter showers, as the water conservation level for Port Hardy will increase.
The district announced earlier today that the conservation level will go up to level two, and very likely to level three later because little to no rain is expected for the area this month.
While Stage two is in effect, residents living in even-numbered addresses are allowed to sprinkle their lawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. or between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Odd-numbered addresses get the same times but can sprinkle the lawn on Thursdays and Sundays.
Once Stage Three is in effect however, all forms of lawn sprinkling using drinkable water will be prohibited.
For what you can do to conserve the water in your homes, the district suggests you take shorter showers, fix any leaks in your house, and water your garden while Stage two is in effect.
The increase to level two is set to start tomorrow, with the change to level three expected to start next Wednesday.
