Police are looking for more information about a fishing boat that ran aground near Kyuquot last week.
During the evening of July 13, a commercial fishing boat registered to a nearby charter fishing resort hit the rocks near the remote West Coast Vancouver Island community. Locals responded quickly, rescuing three people from the boat and transporting them to a medical facility to treat minor injuries.
Police say the people on board were resort personnel, along with one of their friends. They are thanking locals for acting quickly to prevent the incident from turning into a tragedy.
RCMP West Coast Marine Services is assisting Port McNeill RCMP in the investigation. Transport Canada and WorkSafeBC are also expected to be involved.
Anyone with information should contact the Port McNeill RCMP detachment at 250-956-4441.
