Island Health says the emergency room at the Port Hardy Hospital will be closed tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The health authority says the department will reopen on Friday at 7 a.m., and all other in-patient services will be running at the hospital and long-term care home.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency while the department is closed, Island Health says you should call 911 or go to the Port McNeil Hospital if you are able. If you are unsure, you are asked to call 811 to speak with a registered nurse.
First Nations communities and individuals can also access the First Nations Health Authority’s First Nations Virtual Doctor of the Day services from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 7 days a week.
Island Health has apologized for the inconvenience.
