Port Hardy RCMP have made a significant dent in local drug trafficking issues so far this spring.
RCMP acting detachment commander Sergeant Trevor Busch spoke to Port Hardy District Council last week, providing an update and the latest crime statistics.
In March, police arrested and charged six fentanyl traffickers, who are now going through the courts. Police have been busy since cracking down on dealers.
“Just a couple of weeks ago on May 15, we successfully initiated a trafficking investigation into drug trafficking and executed a search warrant on Thunderbird Way, resulting in a significant amount of drugs being seized, along with cash and firearms,” he said.
Busch says there are more investigations currently underway, but couldn’t provide any details yet.
Busch recently stepped into the leadership role, he joined the detachment in April.
