Port Hardy now has two new physicians treating patients

Two new physicians will accept patients in Port Hardy.

That comes from Island Health, announcing that doctors Ramiz S.Alhadi and Hadi Awad Hmoud are joining the Port Hardy Primary Health Care Centre. Both physicians will work in the hospital’s emergency department, with the health authority saying they come with experience and expertise for those roles.

Originally from Iraq, Alhadi has practiced medicine since 2017, having graduated from the University of Bashrah college of medicine.

He comes to the North Island through the practice-ready assessment program, a provincial initiative that focuses on transitioning physicians to the country’s health care system.

For Hmoud, he comes in with over 30 years of practicing medicine, with his experience including working in Iraq, Yemen, Denmark, and Canada.

Primary care coordinator Jodi Wright says the team is delighted to welcome them to Port Hardy.

“Their addition to the team not only significantly increases access to physician care, but their diverse experiences and dedication will also elevate the quality of health care services we provide,” said Wright.

Both Alhadi and Hmoud say they are eager to work with the team and to bring the best possible care to the community.
