Tourism numbers looking better than ever in Port McNeill

Tourism continues to bounce back on the North Island, with another great year so far in Port McNeill.

The town’s visitor info centre has had more than 800 visitors so far this year, almost double the number from the same time last year. In a report to town council the community development and engagement manager Chris Woo says most visitors are still domestic, but the number of international visitors has increased, with people coming from all around the world to enjoy the North Island.

The number of groups has also increased, with 544 visiting the tourist centre so far this year compared to 330 by the same time last year.

Woo says training for summer staff is now underway.
