Port Hardy’s skate park is finally getting an expansion.
The mayor and council recently committed $550,000 to the project in this year’s budget. The money is coming from a reserve fund, and won’t impact taxes.
Council recently awarded the contract to upgrade Kyle Scow Memorial Skatepark to Radius Skateparks, which has experience building parks on Vancouver Island.

The district is holding a public meeting for people to help plan out the skatepark’s new look, it will be held on June 24 at 5:30 pm at the Don Cruickshank Memorial Arena.
Once a design is approved, construction will take place this year, with a goal to have the upgrades complete by next spring.
