Organizers of last month’s Logger Sports in Port McNeill said the 13th annual event was a huge success, and they are already looking forward to next year.
In a letter to village council, logger sports society director Andrew Ashford says the June 1 competition featured 58 competitors from six countries around the world, and a strong turnout of spectators.
He says forestry and forest history continues to be a vital part of the local culture and economic identity, and the annual event is a great way to showcase the logging history and beauty of the North Island.

Now, he says, the society is planning another sanctioned event for next year, which it hopes will continue attracting the best competitors from around BC and Canada.
