Stage 2 water restrictions to be in effect for Port Hardy starting Friday

Starting this Friday, the District of Port Hardy will be under Stage 2 Water Restrictions.

The district says the change is because of a long stretch of dry weather with little to no rain in the forecast.

Under these restrictions, you can only water between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. or between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays if you live in an even-numbered home.

For those living in odd-numbered homes, you get the same times but on Thursdays and Sundays.

You can water flowers, trees, shrubs, and vegetables with the sprinkler during those times, with hand watering or using the hose with the nozzle shut-off allowed at any time.

Other changes include washing your vehicle using pail, and filling pools, hot tubs, and fountains at any time.

Watering new lawns will be prohibited under this stage.

The changes come into effect August 16.
