You might want to reschedule your ferry sailing, as several sailings have been cancelled on the North Island.
In a notice issued this morning, BC Ferries says 8 sailings on the Port McNeill to Alert Bay to Sointula route will be canceled because of unanticipated crew absences, from 9:35 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. today.
This includes sailings leaving Sointula at 11 a.m., Port McNeill at 11:35 a.m., and Alert Bay at 12:20.
The ferry line says they have exhausted all options at this time to get crew in place, and are contacting potential replacement members to keep things moving in a safe and timely fashion.
They expect service to return to normal starting at 3:15 p.m., with BC Ferries adding they’re attempting to get a passenger water taxi for those in need.
They apologize for the inconvenience.
