Weather systems this weekend and into next week are expected to make local streams and rivers more dangerous, warns the provincial River Forecast Centre.
The warning applies to the North Island as well as the regions around Gold River and Zeballos. The North and Central Coasts are also expected to be impacted.
The centre says incoming weather systems may bring moderate to heavy rainfall by Monday, causing rivers and streams to increase their flows to potentially dangerous levels for anyone nearby. Current modelling suggests stream flows could hit two or five-year highs.
