As tributes continue for former premier John Horgan, who passed away yesterday from cancer, Port Hardy Mayor Pat Corbett-Labatt says he was a remarkable man.
“He had a brother that lived just Southside of Port McNeill for many years, so I had the opportunity to meet John Horgan on a personal level through his brother,” said Labatt.
“On a political level, Premier Horgan was dedicated to fairness and integrity. He tried so hard to make life better for all of BC, whether it’s rural BC or urban BC.”
Labatt says by having family living in the North Island, Horgan became aware of the issues and needs the communities had in the region.
She adds she’ll remember him for his fairness, integrity, being open and receptive, while also not being negative.
“I’m very sad for his wife Ellie, sons, family and friends.”
