Residents were asked to stay away from Telegraph Cove early this morning as firefighters dealt with a fire under the community’s boardwalk.
On social media, Port McNeill Fire Rescue says the fire resulted in parts of the boardwalk being lost, with the Whale Interpretive Centre and other businesses lost.
Firefighters from Port McNeill Fire Rescue, Alert Bay Fire Department, Hyde Creek Volunteer Fire Department, and Port Hardy Fire Rescue got called in to battle the flames.

They asked residents to stay away as going down to watch hinders efforts to extinguish the fire.
