Police participate in healing gathering at Alert Bay Big House

Alert Bay’s ‘Namgis chief and council welcomed local RCMP officers to take part in a special healing gathering this month.

The community’s fifth annual Missing Murdered Indigenous Women Healing Gathering took place on February 13. This year police officers from the Indigenous Policing Service walked with the community, and the procession was led by the detachment commander and a police vehicle.

The walk ended at the Big House, where inside there were ceremonies and songs, presentations to family members, and lunch.
