A new schedule is coming for the Port McNeill – Alert Bay – Sointula ferry route in March.
BC Ferries announced the change in a service notice, saying the decision comes as a way to improve on-time performance and to provide a more consistent and reliable service.
The new schedule will see the first ferries leaving Alert Bay at 6:20 a.m., 7:10 a.m. for Port McNeill, except for Sundays, and 7:00 a.m. only on Sundays for Sointula.
For Alert Bay, ferries will leave at 9:15 a.m., except on Mondays and Thursdays, 12:15 p.m. 3:15 p.m., 6:05 p.m., and 9:15 p.m.
Port McNeill sees the most departures with sailings at 8:25 a.m., except on Mondays and Thursdays, 8:40 a.m. only on Mondays and Thursdays, 10:15 a.m., 11:20 a.m., 1:15 p.m., 2:20 p.m., 4:05 p.m., 5:10 p.m., 7:05 p.m., 8:20 p.m., and 10:35 p.m.
Sointula has sailings at 7:45 a.m., except for Sundays, 10:45 a.m., 1:45 p.m., 4:35 p.m., 7:40 p.m., 9:55 p.m., and 11:10 p.m.
The Ferry-line adds while not all requests could be accommodated, they hope this change can ensure safe and reliable service for the long term.
The new schedule comes into effect March 1.
