North Island College (NIC) students can start applying for awards on March 1 to support their studies.

The NIC Foundation will take applications for scholarships, bursaries, and other financial awards up until midnight April 30.

Executive Director of the NIC Foundation Melanie Nagy said the generosity of donors makes a significant impact on students’ lives.

“Each award not only lightens the financial load but also empowers student to pursue their academic and career goals.”

Donations come in across North Island communities every year to support the NIC Foundation and hundreds of students.

Last year the value of the awards program was nearly $797,000, which allowed them to distribute 583 individual awards, including 30 Indigenous-focused ones.

Student Pauline Papp said the benefits of earning scholarships or bursaries go beyond financial support.

“It serves as a reminder of the support and guidance I’ve received along the way, and I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to build on this foundation as I move forward in my career.”

Applications can be found on their website here.
