There’s a community meeting coming up in April to talk about the future of the North Island Community Forest.
The North Island Community Forest Agreement covers three different forests near Quatse Lake, Marble River, and Alice Lake. It has a combined total area of approximately 2,390 hectares and operates in partnership with Port Hardy, Port Alice, and Port McNeill, who are the three shareholders in the business.
Any profits made from harvests in the community forest go back to the three communities.
The upcoming meeting is an open house, with the public invited to attend to learn more about the forest, meet the shareholders, and the board of directors.
It’s scheduled for April 3 at the Seven Hills Golf Course in Port McNeill from 5 to 8 pm.
