Be careful if you’re leaving your home; strong winds are in effect for North Vancouver Island today.
Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a wind warning, saying southeast winds up to 90 kilometers an hour are hitting communities like Port Hardy, Port McNeill, Port Alice, and Sayward.
The winds come because of a deep low-pressure system moving to the central coast of BC.

For BC Ferries, a total of 19 sailings have been cancelled between Campbell River and Quathiaski Cove as a result of the winds.
The weather agency says loose objects can be tossed, causing injuries or damage, with power outages and falling tree branches expected.
The winds look to die down tonight.
