Island Health is on track to open 93 new substance use beds this year.
Six supportive recovery beds have opened in Courtenay, five in Port Hardy and a request for proposals for Campbell River closed last week.
Director of Mental Health and Substance Use for Central – North Island, Lisa Murphy says it’s exciting to see the beds come on line to help people in need.

Murphy says 55 of the beds are already up and running an another 38 will be opened in the first few months of 2017.
