Healing Childhood Trauma Project in Port Hardy

A new pilot project is being launched in the Comox Valley and Port Hardy to help children heal from trauma.
The Healing Childhood Trauma Project is a partnership between Island Health, the Ministry of Children and Family Development, the public health unit, and a four-person treatment team…
The project is based on a model developed by Doctor Bruce Perry.
He says the model is designed to create individual plans, looking at children in a comprehensive, holistic way.
The Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island is providing funding for the project with a three-year grant of 715-thousand dollars.
