Skate park upgrades coming, community meeting June 24 to decide design

Port Hardy’s skate park is finally getting an expansion.

The mayor and council recently committed $550,000 to the project in this year’s budget. The money is coming from a reserve fund, and won’t impact taxes.

Council recently awarded the contract to upgrade Kyle Scow Memorial Skatepark to Radius Skateparks, which has experience building parks on Vancouver Island.

Once a design is approved, construction will take place this year, with a goal to have the upgrades complete by next spring.
