Rotary Club hope Pumpkin Patch takes place in local spot next month

A local club wants permission to hold a Pumpkin Patch event in Port Hardy next month.

In a letter to mayor and council, The Rotary Club of Port Hardy is requesting that they hold their Pumpkin Patch event along the seawall area in Carrot Park.

The patch is an event where post-Halloween jack-o-lanterns are picked up from town residents, putting them along the walking display area.

Club president Ian Hill and Pumpkin Patch spokesperson Jen Dugas are asking council to set up slow road signage in the area in front of where the patch is happening, near the intersections close to the area to calm traffic, and for the seawall lights to stay dark until 8 p.m.

They aim to hold the patch on November 2 from 6 to 8 p.m.

This request will be presented as part of an upcoming council meeting, set for Tuesday at 7 p.m.
