MP Blaney pays tribute to Senator Murray Sinclair

The NDP MP for North Island – Powell River pays tribute to Senator Murray Sinclair today.

Sinclair, known for his work as Senator and Truth and Reconciliation Commissioner, passed away earlier today at 73 years old.

His work saw him play huge roles in Canada’s efforts for reconciliation, with MP Rachel Blaney paying tribute to him at the House of Commons.

She says it grieves her heart hearing Sinclair passed away.

“As the granddaughter of a residential school survivor and as the spouse of a residential school survivor, I am incredibly grateful to Senator Sinclair for his tremendous leadership and work,” said Blaney.

She then opened the floor for the member to share thoughts with Sinclair’s family, with Conservative MP for Stormont – Dundas – South Glengarry Ontario Eric Duncan saying Sinclair was a wonderful Canadian.

“He was a calm, cool, and collected voice for millions of people, wildly respected and rightfully so,” said Duncan.

Both MP’s offer their condolences to Sinclair’s family for the loss.
