Family overwhelmed by community generousity after house fire

A family in Port Hardy who lost their home right before Christmas in a house fire is overwhelmed with the generousity of the community.

Kevin McLaughlin’s home burned down on December 20. Afterwards, his eldest daughters Jessica and Sarah started an online fundraiser to help them rebuild. Three of McLaughlin’s children still live at home with their single dad, who is well-known in the community as a volunteer hockey coach.

More than $13,000 was raised in the fundraiser, which is now closed.

Jessica and Sarah are now thanking everyone who helped out with financial donations, and with encouragement and support. They also thanked the Port Hardy fire department and emergency services.
