19 impaired drivers taken off Vancouver Island roads on New Year’s Eve and Day

New Years saw many choose to celebrate, though some irresponsibly according to RCMP.

BC Highway Patrol took 19 impaired drivers off the road on Vancouver Island during the New Year’s Eve/Day night, through roadblocks and patrols.

Insp. Adam Tallboy, Officer in Charge of BC Highway Patrol on Vancouver Island, said he’s thankful for the officers who gave up their nights to keep everyone else safe.

“I am grateful that our BC Highway Patrol officers made sure no one got hurt, including the 19 impaired drivers.”

The 19 impaired driving prohibitions ranged from 24-hour to 90-day license suspensions.

Tallboy added he hopes everyone will start drinking responsibly in 2025 and stay off roadways after they do.
