Webinar explores negative impacts environmentalists have on First Nations

The CEO of the Kitasoo-Xai’xais Development Corporation is one of the speakers in an upcoming webinar about a different kind of environmental impact.

The event, titled “Eco-colonialism and Indigenous involvement in the natural resource sector” is scheduled for January 23, and is being put on by the Macdonald-Laurier Institute.

Isaiah Robinson from the Kitasoo-Xai’xais is an advocate for his nation’s involvement in natural resource industries, including salmon aquaculture in their territory. He’s one of the speakers, along with Dakota Kochie, former Chief of Staff for the Assembly of First Nations and others.

The webinar will examine tactics and impacts of environmental activists from an Indigenous perspective, particularly their negative impact on Indigenous participation in natural resource industries in their own territories.

Visit the Macdonald-Laurier Institute’s website for more information about how to participate in the webinar.
